Lake Sammamish

Are you looking for a beach day not far from Seattle? Make a trip to Lake Sammamish State Park! This park, which is near the city grid and has two lakefront beaches and paths through deciduous forests and marshes, provides an outdoor family experience. You could even be in the presence of one of the magnificent blue herons or bald eagles that dwell in the park.

Do you like water activities but don’t have a kayak or board? There are no difficulties! Rentals are available at Tibbetts Beach. Do you prefer to walk on the ground or ride in the air? Bring bikes, walking poles, binoculars, and bird books, or bring your GPS unit for geocaching to explore the light-dappled paths. Would the children want unstructured time? Allow them to run wild in the brand-new, state-of-the-art playground while you relax from a distance.

Lake Sammamish is a popular gathering spot in the Seattle area, offering free-form play and year-round community activities. Nature walks, birding excursions, dog strolls, conservation projects, paddling and cycling events, obstacle courses for kids, summer concerts, holiday boat parades, and the Parkadilly Fair are among them. Lake Sammamish is the ideal location for picnics, games, and making memories whether you call it home in Oz or are simply passing through.

The 531-acre, day-use park on Lake Sammamish has 6,858 feet of lakefront. The region surrounding the lake holds archaeological significance as a congregation place for at least four Native American tribes.

A salmon-bearing creek and a great-blue-heron rookery provide birding and wildlife viewing, while free time is guaranteed by the presence of fishing poles, horseshoes, and volleyball courts. The park has an automated pay station for visitors to purchase a one-day or yearly Discover Pass.

Dogs are permitted in state parks along Lake Sammamish if they are on a leash and under physical command at all times. Dogs are not permitted on designated swim beaches, however. To provide safety, comfort, and enjoyment for everyone who visits the park while also protecting wildlife and natural resources, please tidy up after your canine friend!
