Meydenbauer Bay Park

The newly renovated Meydenbauer Bay Park is definitely where you want to spend your summer! The expansion of the park’s original area from 2.5 acres to 10 acres along Lake Washington’s waterfront was completed in early 2020. The planning for the park began in 2007, and construction began in 2017. The steep site has been terraced into distinct areas: a beach level, a playground level with lookout points all the way up to street level, and 70 feet above the lake.

The Westin Peiser Pier is a 400-foot-long, curved pedestrian pier that extends into Meydenbauer Bay. You may feel as if you’re on the water without getting wet because of the built-in boat launch for canoes, kayaks, and stand-up paddleboards. A surprisingly true sundial sits near the end of the pier, as well as ample seats where you may sit and relax.

A wooden pier with ropes, a swimming platform, and a sandy beach encircles the swimming area. From late June through early September, lifeguards will be on duty. The brand-new playground, which is positioned just above the beach, will be enjoyed by children. The climber structures imitate natural elements such as boulders and logs in order to pay homage to the lovely surroundings.

From the playground, several wide, paved pathways lead to one of the parking lots. Take a break at a bench with a view if you walk up the hill to street level. The Meydenbauer Bay Park is in a nicer area of Bellevue, so the community is more expensive and has better amenities. The new beach house is tucked beneath the pier, and these are excellent restrooms with two separate family restrooms that are really nice.

You won’t have to worry about packing a lunch. Just down the street from a charming Main St. shopping area and a stone’s throw from Bellevue Square is the park, which is only a block away from a Pagliacci Pizza. Whatever you require, it’s right here. If the kids are itching to check out another fantastic playground, Downtown Park’s enormous Inspiration Playground is less than a mile away. Just for kicks, there’s a genuine Clark Kent-style telephone booth next to the lower parking lot. When was the last time you saw one of those?
