Bellevue Botanical Garden

Gardens at Downtown Park, in Bellevue, Washington.

The Bellevue Botanical Garden is a free botanical garden located just east of downtown Bellevue, Washington. Originally a seven-acre gift from the community in the early 1980s, the garden has grown into a 53-acre public park. Visitors can explore multiple gardens, such as the Dahlia Display, Native Discovery Garden, and the Fuchsia Garden. Visitors can also enjoy a walk through the Lost Meadow Trail.

This attraction has a unique history and is home to one of the most beautiful mixed-border gardens in the country. The Bellevue Botanical Garden is home to over 300 varieties of plants and includes nine themed gardens. In addition to the formal gardens, this botanical wonder has a sister city
relationship with the Japanese city of Yao. The garden’s Japanese maple and azaleas are particularly stunning, as are the red hot poker and lavender that make up the Perennial Border Garden.

A 53-acre oasis, the Bellevue Botanical Garden is home to some of the Northwest’s best perennial gardens. With a Japanese garden, a shade border, and an environmentally-friendly garden, visitors can find inspiration to try something new with their own gardens. Free tours are held every Saturday and Sunday at 2pm, but visitors should call ahead of time to confirm that they’ll be available on their preferred date.

In the spring, the garden is full of new blooms to symbolize the season. It is a perfect place for a picnic or a short hike, as there are dozens of places to relax and sit, from fountains and statues to a suspended bridge. And there’s plenty to do in Bellevue. There’s something for everyone, whether it’s a solo picnic with family, a romantic day out, or anything in between.

If you’re visiting during the holidays, plan your visit to coincide with Garden d’Lights. This spectacular show combines more than 500,000 lights and transforms the park into an illuminated wonderland. But you can always love the beauty of the flowers and plants year-round. Whether you need some serenity or some exercise, you’ll be delighted by Bellevue Botanical Garden in Bellevue.

For springtime flowers, visit the Bellevue Botanical Garden, located just a few miles from Seattle. Rhododendrons of every hue are a highlight, as is the Meadow Anemone, which is part of the ranunculaceae family. The prairie-dwelling perennial is a sight to see as well, and is even popular in homeopathic remedies. And you can’t forget about the stunning Dahlia Garden in Ottawa.
